Well, it’s only been about a month overdue, but here’s the Baby Pugs review of the online pet food/treat store, Mr. Chewy.com.

First of all, let me start by telling you that my baby pug, Licorice works me like only a pug can. She works me with her big, round eyes. She works me with her seal face. She works me by going soft and submissive, putting her ears down (which makes her head look rounder and her eyes bigger)… Simply put, the girl gets what she wants.

A couple of weeks ago, she wanted wet food. I’ve had her on dry, Purina Overweight Management (OM) for years now. Not too long ago, she refused to eat it one morning. I went into stress-case mom mode and determined she must have a tooth problem and I needed to feed her wet food until we could take care of it at the vet (somewhere in the room right now, I can hear Licorice snickering).

I promptly went out and purchased Newman’s Own Organics Chicken and Brown Rice wet dog food for Licorice. Needless to say, it was love at first bite. The next day, I gave her an OM crunchy to see how her tooth was, and she ate it–no problem. But we had this can of Paul Newman’s dog food, and she loved it and she worked me with her big round eyes and seal face. I caved. So now, Licorice gets her regular dry OM and a little bit of wet added to it. Completely defeats the purpose of the OM, but I’m going to wean her off the Newman’s little by little.

OK–that backstory is relevant to the Mr. Chewy review. The Newman’s Own Organics Chicken and Brown Rice is pricey–about $2.99 for a 12.7 oz. can (at the time of this writing). Mr. Chewy offers it at a discount and delivers it right to my door. That saves me gas money and time. Right off the bat, there’s savings and convenience just by ordering from Mr. Chewy. They also offer free shipping on orders $49+.

Let me tell you, shopping at Mr. Chewy is a delight. The website is clean and easy to navigate. What I like best is their selection and quality of pet food. You can tell these guys are pet owners and animal lovers. They tend to favor the natural and organic lines of pet food, and they have a program where you can refer your friends for a 10% discount on their orders. Additionally, for each friend’s order, Mr. Chewy will donate $10.00 to animal rescue organizations, such as North Shore Animal League America- the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization, and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. Another great reason to shop for your pet’s needs at Mr. Chewy.

Their products are top-notch, their animal altruism is noble, and their customer service is fantastic! My order online was safe and secure. Only hours after I placed my order, I received an email stating my order had shipped. I also received a follow up email a couple of days later to make sure I was happy with their service. Folks, these guys care.

The package arrived a couple of days later. My order was correct and in perfect condition. Easy as pie. Mr. Chewy did indeed deliver happiness. In fact, Licorice was so happy, she tried to jump into the FedEx van and take a joyride. I had to remind her the food and treats were in the box inside the house

All in all, my experience with Mr. Chewy was outstanding, and therefore I can give the Baby Pugs stamp of approval for this company.
